This Directory lists all of the college and university programs currently accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE). To achieve accreditation by ABFSE, programs must meet the standards approved by the American Board. Accredited programs are reviewed every seven years to assure that the standards are being met. The dates beside each entry indicate the year of the last evaluation and the scheduled year of the next comprehensive evaluation.

Programs offering some or all of their courses through distance learning are identified as "Distance Learning - YES." Distance learning courses are designed to enable a student to take all, or the majority of a course, at a location (i.e., home, work, library, etc.) away from a campus. Written comments are invited from interested parties concerning the qualifications for pre-accreditation (i.e., candidacy) or accreditation of any listed program. Comments received will be considered by the Committee on Accreditation as part of its regular program review.
