NFDA International Convention & Expo: Have You Booked Your Hotel Room?
Posted: April 27, 2015
The Indianapolis Colts play the New England Patriots on Sunday, October 18 at Lucas Oil Stadium – the first day of the NFDA International Convention & Expo – which may result in limited room availability. But don't worry: NFDA has secured room blocks – and exclusive room rates – at a number of downtown Indianapolis hotels. To ensure you're able to book a room at a hotel within walking distance of the Indiana Convention Center, visit the NFDA Convention Housing Bureau today! The hotel reservation deadline is September 25, 2015, or until the hotel blocks sell out. Hotel room blocks will fill quickly, so book early!
Get Involved! Be an Advocate for Funeral Service
Posted: April 27, 2015
For several years, Michelle Cooper of Dial-Murray Funeral Home Inc. has attended Sen. Tim Scott's annual Lowcountry Luncheon; prior to Scott's election she attended events supporting Congressman Henry E. Brown. Both Scott and Brown are from South Carolina's 1st Congressional District. The NFDA Political Action Committee (PAC) has contributed funds to Scott, which Michelle presents on behalf of NFDA and its members. Funds from the NFDA PAC enable association members to attend fundraising events like the Lowcountry Luncheon and build relationships with their congressional representatives; during these events, they're also able to spend time with others involved in government and community and business leaders. These relationships help members of congress better understand the work you do and how federal laws and regulations impact the profession and those you serve. If you have a relationship with a member of Congress who supports funeral service and would like to attend or host an event for them, please contact Senior Vice President of Advocacy Lesley Witter at 202-236-4926 or NFDA Advocacy & State Policy Manager Corey Eggers at 262-814-1571.
If You Offer Cremation to Families, You Should Be Certified
NFDA's cremation certification program was developed for all funeral professionals – not just operators – and, with the increasing rate of cremation, it's more important than ever for you to be fully prepared to serve families that choose cremation. Join your colleagues for an NFDA Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) seminar on Wednesday, April 29 in Denver, Colo. (on-site registration welcome), or Monday, May 11 in Raleigh, N.C.
