NFDA Announces March 2015 Meet the Mentors Attendees
Tune in each day this week as NFDA announces the 2015 Meet the Mentors attendees. Ten names will be announced each day via a video that will be posted on NFDA's website and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) at approximately 2 p.m. CST. The 50 young funeral professionals whose names are drawn this week will attend the NFDA Meet the Mentors program, which will take place March 16-18 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. Learn more about Meet the Mentors by visiting www.nfda.org/mentors. NFDA thanks the Funeral Service Foundation for its support of Meet the Mentors.
Community Outreach Opportunity: National Consumer Protection Week
Every year, National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) encourages people and businesses to learn more about avoiding scams and understanding consumer rights. This year, NCPW takes place March 1-7. NCPW highlights free resources from government agencies and consumer organizations to help people make smarter buying decisions and spot rip-offs. NCPW may be a perfect community outreach opportunity for your funeral home.
NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Early Bird Deadline Is Feb. 13
In 2015, NFDA will, for the 35th time, honor member firms with the Pursuit of Excellence Award. Make this the year your firm is recognized for its commitment to providing exceptional service to grieving families and the community, while adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards.
Advocacy Summit Early Bird Registration and Hotel Deadlines Are This Friday
NFDA members will make their way to the nation's capital for the association's 2015 Advocacy Summit. The 2015 Advocacy Summit will be critical because of the changes following the 2014 midterm elections; NFDA needs its members to help educate newly-elected members of Congress and incumbents about the current issues impacting the profession. In order to take advantage of NFDA's exclusive hotel rate, you must make your reservation by Friday, January 30. Additionally, you can save up to $50 when you register on or before Friday, January 30. NFDA Cremation Certification Program Coming to Texas and South Carolina
With the increasing rate of cremation, it's more important than ever for you to be fully prepared to serve families that choose cremation. NFDA's Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) Program was developed for all funeral professionals – not just operators. NFDA highly encourages funeral directors who use a third-party crematory to earn their certification so they will have a thorough understanding of their legal and ethical obligations during the entire cremation process, from the moment they take a decedent into their care, until they return the cremated remains to the family.
You can register on-site for the CCO Seminar in San Antonio, Texas, on January 31; there's still time to register in advance for the seminar in Columbia, S.C., on February 2.
