In April, NFDA announced a partnership with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) to help bring hospice professionals and funeral directors together to work collaboratively on helping families at the end-of-life.
While much has been taking place behind the scenes since that announcement, the first visible initiative in this collaboration was an article exchange: NFDA would publish an educational article written by an NHPCO representative in The Director. Similarly, NHPCO would publish an article written by an NFDA representative in their member publication.
NFDA's article was just published in the July 2013 issue of NHPCO Newsline. Turn to page 8 to read "Funeral Service in America: What Consumers Think and Want" by NFDA Public Relations Manager Jessica Koth: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/nhpco/newsline_201307/#/0 (no login is required).
NHPCO's article, "Partners in Care" written by Douglas Wagemann, appeared in the May 2013 issue of The Director (www.nfda.org/digitaldirector; login required). Doug serves on the board of the National Hospice Foundation and has been involved in funeral service and hospice for more than 30 years.
