One month ago, NFDA announced it was partnering with Federated Insurance to offer "Distracted Driving – In the Blink of an Eye," an exclusive community outreach kit to educate the public about the dangers of distracted driving. The kits are available to NFDA members at no cost. A number of NFDA members have ordered and received their kits and are using them to educate their community about the serious, and sometimes deadly, consequences of behaviors that distract drivers' attention from the road.
Some NFDA members have even received positive attention from their local media for their efforts. One such member is Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Ohio, which had received coverage in their community's newspaper and on a local television station.
The materials in the "Distracted Driving – In the Blink of an Eye" kit encourage drivers to make a commitment to themselves and their family to avoid distractions while driving so they can arrive safely at their destination without incident or accident. The kit includes:
The presentation and video are appropriate for anyone of driving age. A funeral director could present the information to organizations such as colleges and high schools, community centers, senior living communities, churches, and community service organizations.
NFDA members can order the free "Distracted Driving – In the Blink of an Eye" community outreach kit by visiting www.nfda.org/DistractedDriving (member login required); the kit will arrive in four to six weeks. Members can call their NFDA member services representative at 800-228-6332 if they have questions about the kit.
Federated Insurance is NFDA's endorsed provider of business insurance.
