On March 17, 1911, Worsham College of Mortuary Science opened its doors on Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. Worsham will celebrate its 100-year legacy of educating funeral service professionals on Saturday, October 22, the day before the NFDA International Convention & Expo opens.
The Centennial Celebration will take place from 5-9 p.m. on the Worsham Campus, 495 Northgate Parkway, Wheeling, Ill. In addition to food and cocktails, guests will enjoy music from the classic rock band Looney Train. Steve Dawson, Looney Train's keyboard player, is a 1982 graduate of Worsham and owns Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home in Franklin Park, Ill. Attendees can also take a tour of Worsham College.
Shuttle transportation will be available. The shuttle will depart the Hyatt Regency Chicago promptly at 4:30 p.m. The shuttle will depart Worsham at 9 p.m. and take guests back to the hotel. Valet parking will be available at the college.
The Worsham Centennial Celebration is open to all funeral service professionals. The cost to attend is $20. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Bruno B. Bak Memorial Scholarship Fund
