On May 23, OSHA announced that it would begin surveying private-sector employers to obtain information regarding future rules, compliance assistance and outreach efforts. Approximately 19,000 private-sector employers of all sizes and across all industries will receive the survey "Baseline Survey of Safety and Health Practices."
The survey asks questions regarding workplace safety and health management practices. Specifically, it will include inquiries about whether the respondent already has a safety management system, whether they perform annual self-inspections, who manages safety at their establishment and the kinds of hazards encountered at their facilities.
Participation in the survey is voluntary and will be conducted by an outside contractor, Eastern Research Group. OSHA has indicated that the results of the survey are anonymous and will not be used for enforcement.
NFDA members who receive this survey and have questions while filling it out, may contact NFDA OSHA Counsel Edward M. Ranier at 410-967-1812 for a complimentary consultation.
