NFDA recently sent a letter to the Department of Veterans Affairs offering comments on a proposed policy concerning reimbursements for caskets and urns for burial of unclaimed remains in a national cemetery when there is no known next-of-kin.
In the letter, NFDA expressed several concerns with the proposed policy, including as the VA's definition of "urn" in the policy and the circumstances under which reimbursement might be denied to funeral directors.

NFDA will keep you apprised of the status of this proposed VA policy.
