In last week's issue of the NFDA Bulletin, you learned that a bill to repeal the onerous health insurance tax created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been introduced in the House of Representatives (bill H.R. 763). A companion bill was introduced in the Senate last week (bill S. 603). NFDA needs you to take action by urging your representatives and senators to support the bills that would repeal this tax.
On March 21, Sens. John Barrasso (R-WY) and Hatch (R-UT) introduced the bill in the Senate to repeal the health insurance tax. The Senate version of the bill has 12 co-sponsors and the House bill now has 83 co-sponsors. In addition, Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID) plans to introduce an amendment to the Senate budget bill that would repeal the tax. While we support the amendment, we do not believe it will be accepted.
NFDA strongly supports H.R. 763 and S. 603 and is working with other small business associations to urge members of the House and Senate to repeal the health insurance tax this year. You can add your voice to the fight by using NFDA's Congress-at-a-Click. There you will find a prepared email that you can customize, if you wish, and send out today. It's easy and only takes a few moments of your time. Click here and support NFDA's efforts to repeal the Health Insurance Tax!
