NFDA Partners with the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation
Today, it is estimated that about five million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease, and about 360,000 people are newly diagnosed every year. In order to raise awareness of this irreversible and devastating disease, NFDA has partnered with the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation. NFDA and the Fisher Center Foundation are working together to inform the public about Alzheimer's and to advance efforts to find a cure for the disease. The partnership also raises visibility of NFDA members and funeral service and ensures that NFDA members have important information available when answering questions about Alzheimer's for families they serve.
The Fisher Center Foundation recognizes funeral homes that raise funds for Alzheimer's disease research by displaying those funeral home names on the Fisher Center Foundation's award winning website, www.alzinfo.org, and in weekly e-newsletters.
NFDA currently has free donation envelopes for the Fisher Center Foundation available to its members, which can be offered to families looking to make contributions to Alzheimer's research. Envelopes can be ordered by calling an NFDA Member Service Representative at 800-228-6332.
NFDA members who are having an event to benefit Alzheimer's can add it to the Fisher Center Foundation's community calendar. To do so, visit www.alzinfo.org and click on “Community Calendar.” There you can view the current community calendar and add your own event online.
