Since 2004, the NFDA and the American Cancer Society have worked together to help families cope with the loss of a loved one to cancer through the "For a Life Worth Celebrating" consumer campaign.

We also continue to share the goal of increasing public awareness about cancer prevention and early detection so more people can stay well.

NFDA is committed to making a difference in the fight against a disease that affects millions of people each year. Together with the American Cancer Society, we are creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Tools for Those You Serve

Local NFDA-member funeral homes can provide the families they serve with important information developed with the American Cancer Society through this collaboration.

  • Coping with Lossaddresses the grieving process families go through after losing a loved one and offers resources, information, and suggestions for coping with loss.
  • Honoring Your Loved One's Memorycan help families make educated decisions about remembering their loved ones with a meaningful, lasting tribute.
  • NFDA funeral directors can offer memorial donation envelopes for those who wish to contribute to the fight against cancer. Use the order form to obtain free envelopes.
  • The American Cancer Society's online Mosaic tool that allows families to create a lasting tribute honoring their loved one's battle with cancer. Friends and loved ones can share memories and photographs while raising funds to fight cancer. The tool can be found online at www.cancer.org/mosaic.
  • Information about planned giving through wills, trusts and annuities can be found on the American Cancer Society website.

Relay For Life

Relay For Life is the world's largest movement to end cancer. It brings together 3.5 million people each year in communities across the country to raise awareness and much-needed funds that enable the American Cancer Society to save lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against cancer.

Even though the National Team Program for clubs and associations like NFDA is no longer supported by the American Cancer Society, NFDA encourages its members to participate in the Relay For Life event in their community. For information about your local event, visit www.relayforlife.org.
