Randall L. Earl, CFSP, co-owner of Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes of Decatur, Ill., is the 2012-13 immediate past president of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).
n his previous role as NFDA president, Earl worked with the NFDA Executive Board to continue the advancement of the Association's strategic plan, which includes delivering programs and services to help NFDA members improve their service to the dying, the dead and the bereaved.
As immediate past president, Earl will attend all meetings of the Executive Board, Policy Board and House of Delegates, and will serve as a liaison between the Executive Board and NFDA's past presidents. He will also represent the Association at state funeral association conventions, serve as an NFDA spokesperson and encourage other qualified candidates to run for office.
Earl has been a licensed funeral director for more than 40 years and is committed to the funeral service profession on a state and national level. He has served the Illinois Funeral Directors Association in a variety of capacities, including terms as secretary, vice president and president of its board of directors.
On a national level, Earl has held the positions of at-large representative, secretary, treasurer and president-elect on NFDA's Executive Board. He also served as Illinois' representative to the NFDA Policy Board. Earl has served on many NFDA committees and work groups, such as Budget, Professional Development, Spokesperson, Advocacy, Audit, Preneed, Operations, and Governance.
Earl has served as treasurer, secretary, vice president and president of the International Order of the Golden Rule, and is a past board chair of the Museum of Funeral Customs. Earl has testified on behalf of the funeral service profession before federal legislative and regulatory bodies.
Earl has a steadfast dedication to the American Cancer Society. He is past chairman of the Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society. He currently serves as an assembly member on the National American Cancer Society Board of Directors. In October 2008, Earl received the St. George Medal of Honor, the highest award presented to a volunteer by the American Cancer Society.
