Estate Tax Legislation Update
Posted: April 17, 2015
"The Death Tax Repeal Act of 2015" (H.R. 1105) passed the House of Representatives on April 16 by a 240-179 margin. The bill will now move on to the U.S. Senate before arriving at the desk of the President. This bill would eliminate the estate taxes that are paid by the estate of a decedent on the value of assets owned at the time of death. NFDA strongly encourages its members to contact their senators to support this legislation (S.860), which will benefit many funeral home owners. Use the NFDA Congress-at-a-Click tool to send an email to your senators; a message has already been written, but you're welcome to edit it or add information about how this legislation could impact you.
