NFDA Members to Urge Congress to Pass Legislation to Help Social Security Recipients and War Heroes

Brookfield, Wis. – When members of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) are in Washington, D.C., next week, they will urge their elected representatives to pass legislation that will help the families of Social Security recipients and fallen service members honor their loved ones with meaningful funerals. The association is hosting its annual Advocacy Summit in the nation's capital March 3-5.
Reminder: Professional Women’s Conference Scholarship Applications Due March 1
The Funeral Service Foundation will award up five scholarships to the 2015 NFDA Professional Women's Conference; scholarships will cover recipients' conference registration fees and provide a $1,000 travel and accommodation stipend. Apply Today: NFDA CPC Program Coming to Ohio
Make 2015 the year you earn the only national certification for preplanners: the NFDA Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC) designation. Your first chance to attend a CPC certification seminar is May 7-8 in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is the first time NFDA is bringing the CPC program to Cincinnati.
NFDA Certified Crematory Operator Program Continues to Gain Momentum
380 funeral professionals earn certification during second half of 2014

Brookfield, Wis. – The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) Program continues to lead the way as the profession's cremation certification of choice. During the second half of 2014, NFDA conducted 10 certification seminars and conferred the CCO designation on 380 funeral and cremation professionals. A total of 672 people have been certified since the launch of the NFDA CCO program in September 2013.
House Passes Important S Corporation Bill

Last week the U.S. House of Representatives voted 272 to 142 to adopt H.R. 636, America's Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2015. This legislation includes built-in gains tax relief and a charitable contribution basis adjustment for S corporations.
