Funeral Directors: Earn Your Cremation Certification at the NFDA Headquarters in Wisconsin
With the increasing rate of cremation, it's more important than ever for you to be fully prepared to serve families that choose cremation. That includes having a firm grasp on your professional and ethical responsibilities to the families you serve. NFDA's new Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) Program was developed for all funeral professionals, whether they use a third-party crematory, own or operate their own crematory, or are thinking of owning a crematory. After completing the program, you will have a thorough understand your legal and ethical obligations during the entire cremation process, from the moment you take a decedent into your care, until you return the cremated remains to the family. The next CCO program will take place on July 29 in Brookfield, Wis., at the NFDA headquarters.

160 Funeral Professionals Have Earned New NFDA Certified Crematory Operator Designation in 2014

Brookfield, Wis. – The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) Program is off to a strong start in 2014. The CCO designation has been conferred on 160 funeral professionals to-date this year; they join the 131 funeral directors who earned the designation after the program launched in September 2013. As the profession's recognized certification seminar, the NFDA CCO Program offers a unique perspective from the funeral director's point of view.
FAMIC Unveils New Have the Talk of a Lifetime Workbook

NFDA is proud to support the Funeral and Memorial Information Council's (FAMIC) national consumer education campaign, Have the Talk of a Lifetime, and encourages you to get involved. This campaign will help consumers understand that every life is special and worthy of remembering with a meaningful funeral or memorial service. With your help, the campaign will be successful and we will begin to change consumer attitudes toward memorialization. FAMIC recently unveiled a new 14-page workbook that will help families in your community to "have the talk" with their loved ones.
Preplanners: The NFDA CPC Program is Coming to Virginia
Your next opportunity to earn the only national certification for preplanners, the NFDA Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC) designation, is August 21-22, in Ashland, Va. The application deadline for this certification seminar, which is being hosted by the Virginia Funeral Directors Association, is July 31.
